A profile view is not a lead. It is the first moment a stranger decides whether you are worth knowing more about. Most coaches leave that moment to chance. The ones who book calls consistently treat it like a step in a path, a deliberate warm-up that moves a person from 'who is this?' to 'I should reach out' without ever feeling sold to. Here is the five-step version that works, and it requires no ads, no pitch, and no awkward cold messages.
Nothing happens until you are visible. The first job of your profile is reach, and reach on a personal profile comes from interaction, not publishing. A post that sparks comments gets shown to more people. A Reel gets pushed into the feeds of people who do not even follow you yet. So the warm-up does not start on your profile. It starts in their feed, with a piece of content interesting enough to make them tap your name and land on your front door.
This is why the 'post things that start conversations' rule matters so much. A Reel that names a recognisable coaching struggle and offers one tip is not just content. It is a reach mechanism, because the interaction it generates is what puts you in front of the next stranger. Without step one, the other four steps never get a chance to run.
You cannot warm up someone who never finds you. Reach is not vanity. It is the first rung of the ladder.
The moment they land on your profile, the clock starts. You have roughly three seconds before they scroll away. In that window, your cover photo and your bio need to do one job: tell the right stranger that you help people like them, and the wrong stranger that they are probably in the wrong place. That is not a tagline. That is a filter, and it is doing you a favour by sorting your audience for you.
A cover that says 'I help burned-out coaches rebuild their confidence and their client list' is doing the job. A cover that is a sunset is not. The bio should back it up with the one transformation you are known for, in plain language a stranger could repeat to a friend. If they cannot, you have not said who you help. You have said words.
Now they know who you help. The next question their brain asks is: but can you actually help me? This is where your pinned post and your featured collections earn their keep. Pin the single best piece of teaching you have, the one that shows how you think and what working with you would feel like. Feature a few collections: your best content, your group, and a free resource that lets them go deeper without any commitment.
The job of step three is to move them from 'this person helps people like me' to 'this person could help me specifically.' A pinned teaching post does that. A testimonial does that. A free guide does that. What does not do that is a feed of random posts with no thread connecting them. Curation is the work here, not creation.
This is the step that turns a warm-up into a lead, and it is the one most coaches skip entirely. After someone has been warmed by your reach, recognised themselves in your bio, and been shown your thinking in your pinned post, the last thing you want is for them to leave with nowhere to go. So you give them a free next step: a guide, a checklist, or an invitation to your group.
The free step is doing two jobs at once. It is giving them genuine value, which builds trust. And it is giving you a way to know who they are, because the moment they take the free step, they are no longer a stranger scrolling. They are someone who has raised their hand and said 'this is relevant to me.' That hand-raise is the difference between a profile view and a real prospect.
A free step is not a giveaway. It is the moment a profile view becomes a name you can help.
Here is where the warm-up either pays off or dies. Someone has moved through all five steps. They are warm, they are interested, and they are ready to reach out. If there is an enquiry form and a booking calendar waiting for them, the interest becomes a booked call. If there is not, it becomes another person who meant to message you and never did, and you will never even know they were there.
This is the exact gap the Coaching Client System is built to close. The enquiry form catches them. The booking calendar lets them choose a time without a back-and-forth. RMM sends the confirmation and the reminder before the call. The follow-up fires on time. You show up to a conversation with someone who has already decided, through five small steps, that you might be the person to help them. That is what a profile that books clients actually does. It does not chase. It warms, and then it catches.
The reason the five-step warm-up outperforms a pitch, every time, is that it respects how trust actually gets built. Nobody books a coach because they were pitched at. They book a coach because, over a series of small moments, they came to believe this person understands them and can help. The warm-up engineers those moments on purpose. The pitch hopes for them by accident.
And the beauty of it is that the warm-up scales. You do the work once, on your profile and in your system, and it warms up every stranger who lands on it from then on, whether you are online or not. That is leverage. That is what turns a personal profile from a social account into a client-attraction asset.
A pitch asks for trust. A warm-up builds it. One drains your audience. The other fills your calendar.
If you want a single test for whether your profile is doing its job, ask this: when a stranger lands on it and scrolls for thirty seconds, do they know who you help, see proof you can help, and have a clear next step to take? If the answer to all three is yes, the warm-up is running. If any one is missing, you have a profile that gets views and books nothing, and the fix is not more content. It is completing the path.
If that path sounds like exactly what your profile is missing, it is the heart of what the Coaching Client System is built to provide, the catch at the end of the warm-up so the interest you build actually goes somewhere.
