Why a Facebook Group Beats a Podcast for Most Coaches

Why a Facebook Group Beats a Podcast for Most Coaches

I love podcasts. I also think they are the wrong first move for most coaches, because the thing a coach needs most in year one is not a media property. It is a conversation engine. And nothing starts conversations like a Facebook group.

The effort-to-result ratio

A podcast is a big, slow build: equipment, editing, distribution, guests. A Facebook group is a Tuesday. You post a question, people answer. You reply. You message. The feedback loop is hours, not weeks, and the conversations that lead to clients happen in days, not a year.

The conversation difference

Podcasts are brilliant for authority. But listeners are passive. They might become a client eventually. A Facebook group member who comments on a useful post is actively engaging today. The Coaching Client System helps you recognise that interest and, when a next step fits, move it forward. The podcast listener, not so much.

When a podcast does make sense

Once your group is thriving and your Coaching Client System is booking calls consistently, a podcast becomes a fantastic authority amplifier, because you will have an audience to promote it to and a system to help the listeners it brings. It is a second act, not a first one.

Start the conversation engine first. Build the media property second.
